Time resolution of cosmic noise observations with a correlation experiment
نویسنده
چکیده
A radio wave correlation experiment using a Mills Cross technique can be used to observe the cosmic noise intensity from the ground for the purpose of determining the absorption in the ionosphere. To ensure a time resolution of 10 to 20 s of the absorption observations, it is necessary that the autocorrelation function of the signal received within a wanted spatial resolution and in a given receiver is >8% of the total signal amplitude incident on that receiver.

Impact of Measuring Devices and Data Analysis on the Determination of Gas Membrane Properties
The time-lag method, using a gas permeation experiment, is currently the most popular method for determining the membrane properties: diffusivity coefcient and permeability coefcient, and from which the solubility coefcient can be calculated. In this investigation, the impact of systematic, random (noise), resolution and extrapolation errors associated with gas permeatio...
متن کاملA 33 GHz interferometer for CMB observations on Tenerife
We describe a new high sensitivity experiment for observing cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies. The instrument is a 2-element interferometer operating at 33 GHz with a ∼3 GHz bandwidth. It is installed on the high and dry Teide Observatory site on Tenerife where successful beam-switching observations have been made at this frequency. Two realizations of the interferometer have been ...
متن کاملEffects of ageing on speed and temporal resolution of speech stimuli in older adults
Background: According to previous studies, most of the speech recognition disorders in older adults are the results of deficits in audibility and auditory temporal resolution. In this paper, the effect of ageing on timecompressed speech and auditory temporal resolution by word recognition in continuous and interrupted noise was studied. Methods: A time-compressed speech test (TCST) w...
متن کاملMulti-Scale Pipeline for the Search of String-Induced CMB Anisotropies
We propose a multi-scale edge-detection algorithm to search for the Gott-KaiserStebbins imprints of a cosmic string (CS) network on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies. Curvelet decomposition and extended Canny algorithm are used to enhance the string detectability. Various statistical tools are then applied to quantify the deviation of CMB maps having a cosmic string contributio...
متن کاملBeyond the Damping Tail: Cross-correlating the Kinetic Sunyaev-zel’dovich Effect with Cosmic Shear
Secondary anisotropies of the CMB have the potential to reveal intricate details about the history of our universe between the present and recombination epochs. However, because the CMB we observe is the projected sum of a multitude of effects, the interpretation of small scale anisotropies by future high resolution experiments will be marred by uncertainty and speculation without the handles p...
